Routine of life
Last week I did not venture over to Hamilton for uni (due to it being Spark week and being summoned to Jury duty) and feel as though just that one week has already got me out of routine. The week actually felt like a holiday, it was great!
This explains why I struggled to rise and shine at 5.45am this morning. There were a couple of moments there when I just wanted to fall on my bed and drift right on back to dream land.
With routine brings order and I guess an element of stability. But then there is also the factor, regarding the beginning of semester, and it is often said, “I’m going to get on to my assignments early, work hard, and do well”; something like that anyway. Sarah’s recent blog ties in with what I am trying to say, I’m sure I can speak for the majority, when we learn something new, or are exposed to something new, or even have purchased something. We use it, or explore it for the first week or so until the novelty wears off.
I know that for me, whether there is a novelty or not, my weeks (this semester anyway) seem to all blend into one!

"Mr G"
Although, my idea for this blog has developed from surfing the internet waves.
While doing some reading here and there I came across three sites that reflects the lifestyle of “Mr G”.
Mr G is not a graffiti artist but an aerosol artist of fine art. His work is amazing. In his work there is no such thing as a brush stroke: his masterpieces are done purely with spray cans.
Mr G is an inspiration to the youth in New Zealand and even in the global market. He is out there in the tagging community making a difference by showing youth how to change a tag into art and to respect property. All of Mr G’s work is done legally!!!!
I have posted one of his sites (www.mrghoete.com) to www.del.icio.us.com but he also has a blog www.mrghoete.blogspot.com and a clothing line website www.repz.com. From reading his blog you will see that Mr G made the front cover of UNO (lifestyle mag). Pick one up and have a read, its inspirational.
If this is the first you have ever heard of him, I can tell you now that it won’t be the last: Mr G is something else. So humble!
We all know the late Sir Edmund Hillary; well Mr G was commissioned to produce a canvas of Sir Edmund Hillary that was auctioned on TradeMe. It is a spitting image of Sir Edmund Hillary, and all done by spray paint!! AMAZING!!!!
It just goes to show that if you have an idea, a passion or something you are gifted with you can make it work for you. It may not be easy, but what is the harm in trying?

Digital Revolution
Where am I going with this? Well I read the article: A New Media Tells Different Stories by Bruno Giussani. Bruno Giussani expressed the evolving world of journalism. Basically print versus the web.
One thing that really jumped out at me was that change is constantly happening, and in this day and age one can not be ignorant to learning more. It can not only be seen as learning more, but can be viewed as growth of the human mind. A little intellectual, I know. I am specifically speaking of the world of technology.
As a youth it is easier to catch on to the latest functions of technology and the digital medium. Change is constantly gruelled into our lives, if we don’t upgrade in our lifestyle then one could say, “that is so like, a month ago”. Which has a bearing on self image and self esteem, but I will save that discussion for another time.
Anyway back to this digital revolution, change and learning capabilities.
Bruno Giussani discussed the most effective means of journalism and that no matter whether one likes picking up the newspaper in a café or not, the way of the future is the internet. It is accessible anywhere which enables kiwi’s on there OE to keep in touch with their homeland, their grassroots.
“www”, the World Wide Web. In effect the internet scales down the vastness of the world. Your best friend or family member on the other side of the world is only a click away.
Even though people in this day and age may not like change, it is vital. I feel sorry for the older generation, as for them it is harder to catch on. As the saying goes…it is like teaching an old dog new tricks.
If it wasn’t for change and geniuses in the world we would still be writing letters opposed to emails. A big THANK YOU to the brains in this world.
So maybe this digital revolution isn’t so bad. I know that I am willing to take a dive in the internet surf and see what waves I can catch.

Life as a student [webmedia08]
Now it is time to get back into the process of study. No more sleep ins. No more bumming around. No more partying….whoops did I say that? Partying never stops in student life, right?
So far being back has been a bit of a killer. The whole commuting thing from the flat by the beach to suburbia is a bit of a mission.
Made the first class; Web Media. Web Media is interesting as it has given me a new perspective on blogs. I for one have never really been much of a web surfer or internet fanatic; it is something that tests my patients!
However, I was reading part of Mark Briggs book where he states that if you want to learn how to do something, you will be able to achieve it. So I am saying that I want to learn the ways of the web, how to be creative and most importantly make life in cyber space a little easier and efficient. Good things take time; a little frustrating however but life was never meant to be easy. If it was, I think there would be an element of complacency as there would be nothing around challenging people resulting in the transforming and changing of ones life.
“Change is inevitable. Progress is optional. The future is now.” – Mark Briggs

Are you in Vogue?
I have talked about lifestyle and life in general, so it must be about time to funk it up a little and talk about style.
When I talk about style I mean fashion.
Are you up with the latest trends for the coming season? Or should I say: are you in vogue?
I find it quite interesting to see what the next fashion is going to be and amazed as to how it evolves. My mother often says that she should have kept things from when she was a young adult. It is a bit of a worry that fashions from 30 to 40 years ago are making a come back. But I have to say that with the style and attitudes of today, the items of clothing maybe the same; however, they are worn in a particular manner making it stylie!
As a child born in the 80s I often find myself talking with other people born of the same era and discussing what we use to wear. Slouch socks, bike pants, clothes made by our mothers, skivvies with images, velcro shoes, and for guys the classic Origin jeans (what colour did you have).
Today is a lot different, as children go to school with the latest labels. I on the other hand would have got my first label at the age of 13. Was I deprived? I don’t think so. Back then it was a treat to get a labelled item of clothing.
What is in vogue this winter?
After looking around the shops in the local mall I have noticed that for girls it is all about tights, shirt dresses, pinafores, cardis, scarfs, coats and like every other season; boots. For the guys, well to be honest I haven’t taken as much notice.
Click girl and guy for latest fashions that relate to your gender.
A word of advice: if you feel good in your outfit, work it. But if you feel slightly unsure, change it. There is nothing worse than someone constantly tugging on their outfit as it shouts; self conscious!

Life Process
What does process mean? According to www.k12.hi.us/~atr/evaluation/glossary.htm a process is a method of doing something, involving steps or operations which are usually ordered and/or interdependent. It is also mentioned on www2.slac.stanford.edu/policy/definitions.asp that there are several procedures that reflect a process.
In terms of life process an equation could be put together:
Trouble (bump in the road, valley) + Procedure (actions taken to solve trouble) = Process (fingers crossed; resolved).
When you are feeling in the valley and the mountain top seems unachievable, think again. By ordering your steps correctly and effectively this will ensure that you will get out of the valley and before you know it you will be singing from the mountain tops. However, if you wallow in self pity, “woe is me”, then that valley will get boggy and the mountain top will become extremely difficult to reach, but still achievable.
If one remains positive and discerns what needs to be resolved in order to get out of the valley then everything will be all right. The key is not to let the problem get the better of you. Use discernment and wisdom to acknowledge it and deal to it immediately.
Situations in life get out of hand due to not dealing to the matter as it arises and continuing to tell yourself that it’s not a big deal with the hope of it going away.
Next time you find yourself in a mice or elephant sized predicament think: how am I going to get through this? The faster I’m through this the sooner I can party!
Life is worth living; it is how you live that makes it worthwhile and enjoyable.
You only live once.

What's Your Lifestyle?
Have you ever thought that the elements surrounding you may influence your lifestyle?
When it came time to moving out of home my mum gave me some advice. Advice that is extremely beneficial when choosing who you are going to live with. My mum said “you can determine ones lifestyle or living habits by the state of their bedroom”. Very wise words from my mother.
So what does she mean by how a bedroom is?
From past experience if one’s room is messy more often than it is tidy that person may care less for the rest of the house. But then it can also be viewed that someone’s room may be untidy for a specific reason. Maybe the person is hardly home in a week and has literally gone in and out of their room: dumping stuff, changing clothes. Then getting home late at night and just wanting to crash out and before you know it the room is a mess.
A bedroom is just a small section of the house. When owning your own home the décor is reflective of your personality. Rumi on Lifestyles & Home Decor Inspiring poet, Rumi tells us we can enhance our lives by surrounding ourselves with beautiful home décor (http://www.therumiclub.org/?page_id=30). Also how you maintain your home reflects your inner situation and the life you live; lifestyle.
When you break down lifestyle it is simple; life and style. What is your style? How are you living your life? Does your style and life become one?
